The Eleventh International Cryptography Olympiad Non-Stop University CRYPTO-2024 will be held from October 13 to 21. This is the largest event in the field of cryptography and information security, which traditionally attracts a lot of attention from the professional community.
Students, professionals and schoolchildren from all over the world can try their hand at solving gaming problems and complex scientific problems of modern cryptography. Since the creation of the Olympiad, several thousand people from more than 70 countries have participated in it.
The Olympiad is held in English in two independent distance rounds. The individual tour is on October 13 and the team tour is from October 14 to October 21. Registration is already open on the Olympiad website: https://nsucrypto.nsu.ru/.
NSUCRYPTO is the only international cryptography Olympiad that contains both academic tasks and unsolved scientific problems. The purpose of the Olympiad is to attract young researchers to solving the problems of modern cryptography. Following the results of each Olympiad, scientific articles are published with an analysis of the problems proposed to the participants, including unresolved ones requiring separate scientific research. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad are awarded with prizes.
NSUCRYPTO is the only Olympiad from Russia (and one of seventeen worldwide) that is taken into account in the ranking of universities when analyzing students' wins in international Olympiads in various fields of science. The rating was prepared with the support of the Russian Union of Rectors. Students' wins on NSUCRYPTO are also counted in the RAEX-100 university ranking.
The organizers and partners of the Olympiad are the Cryptographic Center (Novosibirsk), the National Technological Center for Digital Cryptography, Novosibirsk State University, the Northwestern Center for Mathematical Research named after Sofia Kovalevskaya, the University of Leuven (Belgium), the companies Kryptonite and Active, Southern Federal University, Belarusian State University, Tomsk State University.

The International conference "Computer Security and Cryptography" named after G. P. Agibalov was successfully held from September 2 to 7 in Biysk on the basis of the Biysk Institute of Technology.
More than 150 specialists and students from Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Taganrog and Biysk took part in the conference.
For several days, teachers and students presented breakout reports in the field of computer security, mathematical foundations of computer science and applied discrete mathematics. In addition, excursions and a creative evening were waiting for the participants.
— I would like to note separately the lecture by A.V. Cheremushkin, academician of the Academy of Cryptography of the Russian Federation, on modern threats to computer security, which was more than relevant and very memorable to all listeners. As well as brilliant lectures by S.P. Panasenko on low-resource authenticated encryption and E.S. Malygina on post-quantum digital signatures of the additional round of NIST. In general, this conference was remembered for many excellent reports, — Natalia Tokareva, Chairman of the SIBECRYPT Organizing committee, Associate Professor at NSU, shares her impressions.
SIBECRYPT is one of the leading conferences on cryptography and computer security in Russia, held annually in different cities of Siberia. Its purpose is to discuss fundamental mathematical problems of cryptography and information security in computer systems and networks, exchange scientific results on the development of theoretical foundations and the creation of computer security software and hardware.
This year, the conference was held in Biysk with the support of the International Mathematical Center in Akademgorodok, Tomsk State University, and the Northwestern Center for Mathematical Research. The organizers include the Institute of Cryptography, Communications and Informatics of the FSB Academy, the Academy of Cryptography of the Russian Federation, and Moscow State University.
For two weeks - from July 1 to July 15 - at the Southern Federal University, students worked on topical issues of modern cryptography. They were assisted in solving educational and research tasks by experts and teachers of the school.
The school was attended by 70 students and teachers from different cities of Russia, such as Novosibirsk, Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, Tomsk, Sevastopol, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Stavropol and others.
During two weeks the trainees had time to listen to 30 lectures on actual directions of modern cryptography, including directions of cryptographic protection of UAVs, post-quantum cryptography, cryptanalysis of modern ciphers and others. All participants worked enthusiastically on their projects and presented their achievements in the conference format on the last day of the school.
– This year's Summer School is a rather significant event. For the first time in the south of Russia there was such a large-scale platform for discussing the most topical issues of cryptography. Such a format of the school, when students and teachers are always involved in the process of discussing problems, often brings tangible results. We all learn something from each other, adopt experience,’ says Evgenia Ishchukova, co-director of the Summer School, Associate Professor of the Southern Federal University.
- The pace of work at the summer school is always very high and requires participants to be focused, ready to quickly immerse themselves in new areas: they have to listen to lectures, get results, prepare abstracts, and personally present at the final conference. This is not easy for both students and faculty. But it all worked out! Thank you to SFU for the excellent organisation and warm welcome, - sums up the Summer School co-director, Associate Professor of Novosibirsk State University Natalia Nikolaevna Tokareva.
In addition to educational and scientific events, the participants visited the Sambeksky Heights memorial complex, the Polytechnic Museum of ITA SFU, walked through the historical sites of Taganrog, took a boat trip on Taganrog Bay, and also had a series of sports training sessions and a friendly volleyball match.
– This was my second year participating, I am no longer a student, but I really enjoy the level of lectures and projects, it is always interesting to listen and participate myself. Huge thanks to the organisers for the opportunities, as well as for the excursions and constant accompaniment,’ shares the impressions of the school participant, Vadim Valeryevich Davydov from St. Petersburg.
– I am very happy that there are such events in our country. It is also great that it is not so difficult to get here, and the organisers are ready to help with accommodation, transportation and meals. It is impossible not to notice the high level of lecturers, sometimes you are amazed by their experience and the amount of knowledge, - says Darius Gennadyevich Yurgenson from Yaroslavl, a participant of the school.
The Summer School is traditionally organised by the Cryptographic Centre (Novosibirsk) and the International Mathematical Centre in Akademgorodok.
